The Catalan Government commissioned Design Lab to propose the role for their latest structural masterpiece designed by the Japanese architect, Arata Isozaki. The visionary ethereal lines of the exterior demanded equally original, futuristic content and would make an ideal home for the international animation industry. “Animagia” is proposed as its multifaceted hosts, a parallel world using digital technology based on the theme of a Catalan Garden. Acting as a vibrant hub for animators, artists and technologists worldwide, it will support creative excellence through its extensive commercial facilities and visitor spaces showcasing cutting edge animation. The garden will offer a unique visual experience, in keeping with Catalonia’s excellent horticultural reputation. “Animagia” is set to be a major industry and tourist attraction in Northern Spain.
